Polygraph Test

What is a Polygraph Test (Lie Detection Test)?

According to the dictionary the polygraph is a measuring device which makes a permanent recording of various physiological changes taking place within a person’s body as a result of certain psychological stimuli. These stimuli are produced by asking questions, structured and phrased in a specific way, and by maintaining a certain environmental and emotional climate during the polygraph examination.

What do we measure in Our Polygraph Test?

  1. We record breathing and movement
  2. We record changes in skin resistance and sweat
  3. We record your relative blood pressure and pulse rate

Firstly

During the pre-test interview, our polygraph examiner will explain your legal rights; explain the polygraph instrument and how it works. They will then discuss your reasons for having a test and devise and review relevant questions to ask during the polygraph test. Additionally our polygraph examiner will ask you will cover general background information and will provide instructions for the actual test phase.

Secondly

Our polygraph examiner will place:

  1. x2 rubber pneumograph (breathing) tubes across the upper chest and abdomen
  2. x2 metal fingerplates across the ring and index finger
  3. A blood pressure cuff around the upper arm

The test will begin and our polygraph examiner will conduct at least two to three runs of the test

Finally

Our examiner will then study and score the charts, this will allow a conclusion to be reached, as to the subjects honesty regarding the issue.
