Please read through our FAQs on lie detector testing (also known as lie detecting) and examinations. We aim to answer all of your questions in this section of the website. If you have a question that you require answering please don’t hesitate to contact us.
A polygraph (popularly referred to as a lie detector) is an instrument that measures and records several physiological responses such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, breathing rhythms, body temperature and skin conductivity while the subject is asked and answers a series of questions, on the theory that false answers will produce distinctive measurements. The lie detector measures physiological changes caused by the sympathetic nervous system during questioning.
The cost of a lie detector test fee can vary between £550.00 - £750.00 subject to travel expenses, type of test and duration. We do require a deposit of half the polygraph fee BEFORE an appointment can be made (money must be cleared). You can either pay by credit or debit card or by sending a cheque. If you do not show up for an appointment, you forfeit your deposit. These prices apply primarily to the private sector. Multiple testing for a business or government agency will be negotiated separately.
All major credit and debit cards are accepted. Please phone the office on 0161 442 1979 and a member of staff will take the deposit payment (deposit is not refundable). A return receipt email or written receipt will be sent to you, as proof of payment. The remaining charges for the lie detector examination will be taken prior to the test.
A full written report will be sent to you within 7 business days of the test.
Yes, we will provide a suitable location. A test must be in a quiet and undisturbed location. Testing can be carried out at your private residence. The cost for the room will be charged to you and collected with the deposit (not refundable if cancelled).
Yes. Our goal is to be as accommodating as possible to help you get to the truth.
Within reason, you can ask multiple questions. To obtain the most accurate results on a lie detector test, each test is narrowed down to a single issue. The important part is to remember is that you can’t mix issues.
Test questions are limited to "yes" or "no" answers. Test questions must relate to past events of a factual nature. All questions are reviewed with the person taking the exam before any questions are asked.
A lie detector test consists of several different phases: a pre-test interview, the collection of charts, and an analysis of the lie detector (polygraph) charts. The average lie detector test will usually last 2-3 hours from beginning to end. The longest part of the lie detector test will be the pre-test interview, which normally lasts anywhere between 45-90 minutes.
Yes, Quest For Truth Limited, adheres to very strict confidentiality and privacy standards. All information from an examination is kept strictly confidential and private.
In research conducted on field tests the accuracy is over 96%. Field tests means that the results were later verified by confessions or other evidence that proved the test was accurate.
It is possible for an examinee to be uncooperative to the point that a test cannot be completed. Beating the test with a showing of a truthful response on the charts but you are actually deceptive is highly unlikely.
